ISIS: The industry standard, enterprise-level interface that unites a universe of scanners and applications, supporting EVERY feature of leading document scanners. Over the last twenty years, as more and more business procedures have moved from paper-based processes to automated processes, the same problems have repeatedly arisen: incompatibility, and poor communication between scanners and applications. Interfacing a new scanner to an existing application meant long hours, reams of code, and endless complications. But today developers and scanner manufacturers have a powerful tool to easily integrate their imaging solution—ISIS®. In 1990, a team of engineers at Pixel Translations created the Image and Scanner Interface Specification (ISIS). From day one, ISIS changed the way companies build imaging solutions by giving them new levels of flexibility and power in communications between scanners and applications. More than 250 different scanners currently communicate to applications through the ISIS interface. ISIS technology allows the scanners to run at their rated speeds or higher; it’s the only imaging solution that allows a user to take full advantage of the power inherent in their scanners and other imaging machines.

QuickScan Pro: In a fiercely competitive business environment, timely, accurate information is the cornerstone of success. For a business to remain competitive—whether it’s a multinational corporation or a small, home-based enterprise—it must be able to use information as quickly as possible. The problem is that the majority of mission-critical information continues to arrive sluggishly in the form of paper (e.g., contracts, faxes, invoices), which businesses must be able to quickly transform into business-ready content. The solution is in imaging, and for businesses entering the imaging space, there is no better resource than QuickScan Pro. QuickScan Pro (QSP) is a standalone, out-of-the-box imaging solution that provides all the necessary capabilities for high-speed scanning, image enhancement, viewing, annotation, printing, and storing images for both black-and-white and color pages. Its strengths include flexible job separation, barcode recognition (up to 30 barcodes per page!), and, above all, usability. In addition to being a standalone product, QSP can also be easily integrated into document management systems, serving as a “scan module,” which feeds scanned, cleaned-up images into the system. This flexibility empowers a business with a streamlined method for incorporating accurate, usable content into the overall workflow. QSP is based on technology developed by Pixel Translations, and it greatly extends the power and functionality of PixView, Pixel Translations’ earlier utility, which was licensed to approximately 250,000 users. PixTools/Scan: Whether you are a corporate programmer writing applications for your company’s internal use, or an independent software developer creating a product for millions of users, the right tools are mission-critical. Pixel Translations is the choice of industry leaders for adding document imaging capabilities to applications. And the PixTools® product line provides core imaging technologies that can be integrated readily with your software, such as PixTools/Scan. One of the biggest strengths driving PixTools/Scan is supporting Pixel Translations’ Image and Scanner Interface Specification (ISIS®), the industry standard, enterprise-level interface that unites a universe of scanners and applications, supporting every feature of leading document scanners. ISIS also forms the basis of the scanning API currently standardized by the Association for Image and Information Management (AIIM) as MS61, and at the AIIM 2002 conference, ISIS earned the first-ever AIIM Standards Implementation Excellence Award. PixelTools/Scan drives peak performance from every scanning device, and its unique ScanAhead™ capability maintains maximum throughput by caching image data in the ISIS driver—even when an application is temporarily unable to keep up with a scanner. PixTools/Scan also includes image decompression, import, conversion, and file handling. For additional document imaging application support, PixTools/Scan can be used in conjunction with other toolkits such as PixTools/View and/or PixTools/IP.

PixTools/View: A High-Performance API for Image Viewing and Printing. A central requirement in developing any imaging application is including the ability to view and/or print content after it has been scanned into your system and before it enters your overall workflow. And whether you are a corporate programmer writing an application for internal use, or an independent software developer creating a product for millions of users, the right tools are mission-critical. The right tool to fulfill this requirement is PixTools®/View toolkit, which provides viewing and printing functionality with unmatched power and ease-of-use. From Pixel Translations, a division of Captiva Software, PixTools/View is a full-featured API that provides all the necessary image viewing and printing functions (e.g., image display, rotation, scale, scale-to-gray and annotation). It handles image file I/O, along with memory management functions to optimize performance. Offering maximum flexibility, PixTools/View has been successfully integrated into hundreds of applications. (Demonstration applications are available to evaluate this exciting technology in Windows Me, 98, 2000, NT 4.0, and XP.) The toolkit can be used alone, or in conjunction with other PixTools products such as PixTools/Scan and/or PixTools/IP. This flexibility provides developers with a complete environment in which to meet their numerous, varied document imaging application needs.

PixTools/EZ: ActiveX Custom Controls for Scanning, Viewing, and Annotating. Combines the capabilities of PixTools/Scan and /View in a high performance ActiveX/OCX optimized for Visual Basic and C/C++ users.

PixTools/IP: Provides image processing for better OCR results and smaller files. Includes binary and color filters for deskew, despeckle, cropping, line removal, and more. Includes barcode recognition for common symbologies (Code 39, UPC, ISBN, PDF 417 and more).

Platforms Supported: UNIX, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows ME, Windows NT, Windows XP
